Dear colleagues,
It is our privilege and pleasure to cordially invite you and your colleagues to attend the International Seminar-School on Advanced Pulsed Neutron Sources (PANS-III) that will be organized by the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research from January 29 to February 4, 2008 in Dubna, Russia.
Since the last PANS Meeting many changes have taken place including in the town of Dubna. The IBR-2 reactor, whose 10th anniversary was celebrated during the PANS II Meeting, was recently shut down to be replaced in 2010 with its modified version IBR-2M.
As distinct from the two previous PANS Meetings which were held in 1991 and 1994 and were focused on the pulsed fission based sources, this one is intended to be a forum for discussing and solving some problems common for both pulsed fission systems and spallation sources. Area of applications of long pulse sources, cold neutrons and comparison of capabilities of different neutron sources could be of prime interest. In addition to scientific aspects, this Seminar will be at the same time a training school for young scientists specialized in the development of neutron sources of various nature. The Organizers hope for the contribution of eminent senior scientists to the tutorial program of the Seminar-School PANS III.
The Seminar-School PANS III will also include a special session in commemoration of the centenary of the birth of D.I. Blokhintsev (1908-1979) who was a pioneer in the development of pulsed reactors of periodic operation for neutron research. Therefore historical reviews of the pulsed neutron sources in the world are welcomed.
We would like to see in Dubna as many scientists and young people as possible for helpful discussions, talks and lectures, for good companionship and merry social program among snowy pines in the forest and on the icy Volga and Dubna rivers. Language
The working languages of the Seminar are English and Russian. Simultaneous translation will be provided.

The Seminar-School includes:
Plenary presentations;
Lectures;
Round table.
Video projector, overhead projector, and computer facilities will be available.

Conference fee
of 300 EU (or equivalent in US) for foreign participants and 1000 rubles for Russian participants includes Seminar organization, Books of Abstracts and Lectures, coffee breaks, excursion, cultural program and car transportation from the airport to Dubna and back.
The registration fee is due to payment IN CASH at registration.
The Organizing Committee has limited funds for financial support on personal requests (preference will be given to young scientists and students).

Conference publications
Authors of plenary presentations and lectures are invited to submit abstracts (maximum 200 words, A4, TNR 12, electronic format). The authors of plenary lectures are kindly asked to agree with the publication of their Power Point presentations on a CD for students and young scientists.
